Hope's Haven - Spicey (now Alice)

Spicey Spicey Spicey Spicey
Alice recently passed away. This is what her forever mom said about her:

Alice, the white powderpuff rescue I acquired literally days before I left San Diego has been determined to have the Giardia parasite incisted in her intestine - thus incurable. I am thus forced to have to put her to sleep, which will happen tomorrow ...

This is particularly hard on a couple of fronts. Foremost is that other than the diarrhoea she seems fine. I have never before had to face putting a seemingly healthy animal to sleep. She also is a very special dog. She had been a puppymill mom outside in Kansas for some ten years when she was rescued just before her owners were going to dump her and eleven other dogs. She was apparently physically abused based on her initial cowering (trying to hide, rolling over expecting to get hit). In the two years I have had her she has blossomed into a very happy trusting dog, even putting her front paws down in the let's play mode. I can't express what a wonderful personality she has. I am taking comfort in knowing that in the last two years she has had a very happy, comfortable, loved life.
