Kimo is a six-year-old Hairless Chinese Crested with gorgeous white furnishings. He is UTD, heartworm negative, house trained, crate trained and weighs about 15 pounds. Kimo is blind in his right eye due to a retinal tear and requires daily eye drops and annual visits to the eye specialist. He also has food allergies and requires a special food that eliminates those ingredients that affect his allergies.Kimo was released to Hope’s Haven with issues of biting, but he has not bitten a single person since his arrival about a year ago. We feel very strongly that his biting was due to a number of issues. He was blind from cataracts, he was suffering from severe ear infections, his skin was itchy and sore from hives due to allergies, he was in completely unfamiliar surroundings and almost certainly confused and frightened. His foster home believes that these issues are mild and can be overcome but we feel he will do best in a home without young children and an alpha savvy home. Obedience training is highly recommended.
We were able to get surgery for Kimo's cataracts and since regaining his sight, Kimo’s demeanor has changed significantly. He is an extremely happy dog. He is always excited and eager to explore and enjoys taking trips whether it is just a ride in the car or a walk down the street. Kimo loves to chase his tail. He is a master tail-chaser but beware, in all his excitement he ends each performance with an extremely high-pitched bark of enthusiasm.
The water hose is Kimo’s favorite pastime. Kimo can get some serious air when he is playing 'hose attack'. He just adores this game and it is just a wonder and pleasure to watch him. He walks very well on a leash and is amazing in public. He will greet people and loves attention. He has never had an aggressive/biting incident when out and about in public.
