Hope's Haven - Abby

UPDATE (13 June, 2005)

Just wanted to let you know that Abby is settling in to her new home very nicely. She loves walking on a leash on the golf course and playing chase and tug-of-war with her rope toy. I found out that she also loves having her belly rubbed. She did cry and scratch herself a little bit her first night after we went to bed. I wasn't sure if it was because she missed you and the other dogs or because Bert and Moxie were giving her the evil eye.

The cats are getting use to her slowly and I'm still confident that they'll all be friends eventually. She's so mellow around them that they're starting to move closer and sniff her out. She met Michael's two dogs Sunday and we all went for a walk. She was a bit skittish with them because they're much bigger than her, but she was so energetic on the walk, that even the 2 year old was huffing to keep up with her. She's already territorial about her new home. When Michael arrived with his two dogs, she barked and howled and growled like you wouldn't believe.

I just want to thank you again for all the good work you do for all these dogs and for rescuing Abby.

UPDATE (23 February, 2006)

Abby now has a beautiful, long, wavy, shiny coat and no skin problems at all. You would not believe she is the same dog. She got a little bit fat for a while because my mom and my best friend's mom and just about everyone else were such suckers for that cute little dance she does for food. Now, I make my own wet food with chicken, vegetables and brown rice, and feed it to her with Super 5 Wellness hard food and low-fat crunchy treats for her teeth. She looks great and is in great physical condition because of all the walking she does. My mom made her the cutest lavender furry pillow, which she loves so much she drags it all over the house. She also loves to play! Every morning, she goes and gets her squeeky toy and tries to get me to chase her and take it away, then throw it for her.

I grew up with dogs and have had my own dogs, all of whom I loved very much, but Abby is the best dog I've ever had. She never runs away, always comes when called, and is playful but mellow. She's also really good in the car. I work at home, and she has a pillow right next to my computer, and a bed next to mine where she sleeps at night. (she doesn't like to sleep on my bed). Everyone who meets her falls in love with her because she's so funny and sweet.

She is a truly great dog. Thank you so much for bringing her into my life.
