Hope's Haven - Rocky

Rocky Rocky Rocky
Hi there! I'm Rocky, a very small Xolo and my foster mom says I'm a Rock Star! I weigh in at a stocky five pounds and I'm about six-years-old. I don't have very many teeth, so my tongue hangs out most of the time, but I can eat without any problems and believe me, I love eating. I'm a typical Xolo and I'm very active and very pushy with my foster brother and sisters. I love to bark with a raspy little bark and I also enjoy running through the house like a maniac chasing after the other dogs or just running for excitement. I love climbing up on foster mom's desk, though she doesn't like that much. I'll also leap onto the top of my crate and onto the dryer in the laundry room so I can be high up and look around. I guess I'm kind of nosy. My foster mom keeps telling me there is someone special out there who will fall in love with me and adopt me, so please e-mail her if you think you're the one.

Rocky is looking for his forever home. His ideal home will have a very secure fence, as he is a runner and would likely run away, possibly into danger if he got off a leash or escaped out the door and he is so little and quick that he could escape easily. He is also very dominant and will chase other dogs and nip at their heels, so a home with a big dog will not be a good match for him. He also hates cats and gets very nervous and upset around them, always looking at where they are and wanting to chase them, so a home with a cat would not be a good match either. When Rocky came into foster care, he had serious marking issues and was marking all over the furniture, but with the use of a belly band, he rarely marks anymore. He will likely begin his marking behavior again in a new home, so anyone interested in adopting him will need to train him with a belly band for a few months until he stops trying to mark.

Rocky's forever home will need to be patient with him and realize that he is a barker and has the typical Xolo prey drive, chasing pretty much anything that runs away from him, nipping at its heels. He is a very sensitive little guy and he will startle very easily, even while you're already petting him, so households with small children may not work out well for him. He's a great little dog and is very funny and silly sometimes. He likes to sleep in a wire crate and doesn't seem to like being in bed at night. He loves being underneath covers and is a pro at finding a blanket, dragging it to where he wants to rest and climbing totally under it for a nap. One of his favorite things to do is lie down on someone's legs when they have them propped up on a footrest. He also loves perching on the back of a couch, where he can be high up and survey his kingdom.

If Rocky interests you, please e-mail his foster mom and tell her all about your home and why you think it's the perfect one for him.

If you think he is the boy for you, please read our Adoption Procedure Information Sheet before you email his for more information on how to adopt.

As with all Xoloitzcuintlis, Breed Experience is a Plus but Breed Knowledge is a MUST!

* NOTE - Rocky is being fostered in Florida and will NOT be shipped cargo
