Oscar was adopted in February 2006UPDATE
Oscar is doing great! Payton had a HUGE ham bone and had a little piece broken off that he helped himself to. It was so cute. She looked all sad. We told her that she had the whole big bone to herself but she just watched him chewing on 'her bone' :-) We taught him to go up the stairs! That was fun. I was in front and Clint was behind and he was so scared that he kept farting and I was laughing so hard because Clint was right behind him! LOL! He got all the way up to almost the first landing and wanted to go back down! He made it though! He likes down much better but now I just put him on the first stair and kinda give him a lil boost and he goes up all on his own :-D It helps that Payton is there too I think.
I went to take a nap so I put them in their crates and he yelped for fifteen minutes straight, so I got up and gave him 1/2 cup of dinner as I thought he may have been hungry. He woolfed it down and went back to the crate and he continued to yelp for ten more minutes so I put him in with Payton but he wanted out so he went back to his crate and I assume he finally got barked out because I turned on my fan and the radio and my rain machine and closed the door and fell asleep!
They are now running around being nuts!
UPDATE (1, March 2006)
Just wanted to give you an Oscar update! He is doing great! He and Payton just love each other. They sleep in the same crate and hang out in there together too. We just sort of let them figure that one out on their own but it was their choice and they are happy with it. The cats are quite used to him too. Meades bullies him a bit but Oscar just runs away...this is when the cat looks at him with his evil cat eyes!
Clint took Oscar to the vet yesterday, we thought he might have an ear infection because he kept messing with his ear. Well his ear was fine but the vet said he had the worst yeast infection she has ever seen! She said all that acne he had was actually a really bad yeast infection! He doesn't seem to mind much but she told us only 1 or 2 baths a month and gave us special shampoo and conditioner to use. She gave us a leave on conditioner to use more often as well and an ear wash. High maintenance doggie! Clint says he is like me ;) They also did a heartworm check and gave us a 6 month supply for him. They said he was great though. All the girls at the vet though he was a cutie!
He has learned to sit and come when he is called and he knows how to 'lay down hold still' but he chooses not too unless there is a treat involved! He doesn't bark too much unless I am the only one home and then leave, then it is "Oh no, momma's gone - gotta bark A LOT!"
He does follow me everywhere. He is not content to be in the same room with me he has to be connected to my ankles! He is just great! Everyone loves him. His aunt Roberta has even tried to steal him away a few times! I'll send pics when I get them :D
Thanks again!
