Opossum has been adopted (22 September, 2006)!UPDATESum-Sum is doing great. He is so good with my kids (yeah!) and slowly (very slowly) warming up to my husband. He has good days and bad days but he seems very happy here where he is unconditionally loved.
UPDATE (27 April, 2007)
I wanted to let you know that Opossum (Sum-Sum) is fitting in beautifully with our family. It has taken him almost a year to trust my husband without running away scared or trying to bite his legs. Now he jumps on his lap when we watch TV and he lets him take him for walks in the evening if I am not available. He does however nip at guests or people that he is not familiar with still but that has got a lot better and we help him out by trying to keep him away from the situation in the first place and then introducing him slowly after every one has settled.
He also has a new little friend name Tessa (she is a powder puff) that was given to me by my vet's office as she was homeless and they knew I was crazy about the breed and would give her a great home.
The kids love them dearly and my son Conor (9 years) has a very special affection for Sum-Sum and babies him to death! He loves to ride in the car on my lap to pick the kids up from school and when he sees Conor coming to the car he starts wagging his tail and shaking with excitement. I don't know if you remember but when we first fostered him he nipped at the kids quite a bit and now the change is remarkable. Lots of kisses and tail wagging instead!
