Hope's Haven - Lola (now Nola)

Lola Lola Lola Lola
Lola has been adopted (18 June, 2006)

Happy home found! I am not sure who is happier, Lola or I!

She did really well her first night (after the flight I was so surprised). Although she would not do her duty outside the first night and I was so nervous about that, she did make it to the 'oops' pads I had down just in case. She has been going outside ever since.

She is the belle of the ball everywhere she goes, just beautiful and full of energy. I am so glad she is now in our lives helping to brighten it up! It is amazing how someone so small can make such a big difference.

The first 'this was meant to be' moment happened after I kept waiting for her tail to go up as it had been down the whole car ride home from the airport and the first thirty minutes of getting to know the house. It came when I picked up her toys and started to simulate catch and her whole being started to shine. Jumping, playing, even a small bark as if we had played that game a thousand times. I thought I was going to cry! It's amazing how simple pleasures can bring so much joy.

She is doing really well and is such a good girl. Thank you so much to everyone at Hope's Haven but especially her foster mom!

We took her to see one of my older relatives who just refused to call her Lola (it had to do with the movie/book), so instead she used Nola. Lola now Nola responded right away so we are calling her Nola.

UPDATE (22 August, 2006)

So he came about two weeks ago, gorgeous Iggy and she jumped all over him. I was really scared, but he is now getting her back, so they play fight all day long. She is really possessive about her food so I have to feed her at a different time and place (in her kennel). HE is just a little goofball so she gets her way a lot! She fell off her bathroom schedule for about a week, but is slowly getting back on it. She is also very jealous, very jealous. I literally have to play with Emir in a different room with the door closed and I can not walk Emir at all when she is there. They are both a joy! So there is no problem with the adaptations we make. She also babys him which I did not expect. She shows him where to lay (very interesting to watch) makes sure we know where he is at (he is very small) and lets him know not to do the whole chewing thing. She is protective over him too. You can see her brilliance coming out. She really understands one word commands now and loves to show us (even when we are talking to Emir). He has picked up on her hide in the paw thing and how to make a snuggly with my favorite blanket. They are both way too cute.
