Kewpie was adopted in March 2006!BackUPDATE (14 March, 2006)
Riley is giving kisses and getting more affectionate every day. He is showing more interest in Gidget and like Gidget, sees no reaon for us not giving him lots of love as often as he can get it and we are enjoying doing it. He and Gidget are enjoying the patio and responding to the sounds heard outside the front door and the backyard fence.
Getting Riley used to walking. We went to take him out for another walk tonight and he really balked. We figured out his nails were too long for walking on the pavement and so his paws were sore. Had his nails cut, walking is going a lot better and walking in the future should keep his nails a reasonable length between groomings.
We are trying to teach him to go up and down stairs - he's really spooked by it. We figured maybe he never went up and down a staircase that extends from one floor to another. Going to be slow going on this. Also he seems to be spooked going in and out the front door - could it be the change in light, in to out and vice versa? We will have to continue to watch and try to sort it out.
Both of them are eating terribly and we are hoping in the next few days that will sort out. That or they are going to be skin and bones! No, no, not really! We'll go to plan B as soon as we figure out what that is. Anyway, we appreciate you delivering Riley to us and will continue to keep you informed of his progress. He really is a love.
UPDATE (13 May, 2006)
Riley is in seventh heaven with our big back yard. Watered every bush and tree the first day and then the lanwn service came the next day to mulch and mow. Ruined all his work so back he went again to re-water everything - again and again! He's having a grand time running, running and more running in our fenced-in yard. Really feeling full of himself and we are getting immense pleasure watching him. With the dew on the grass in the morning, he comes in covered in wet mulch so it is routine now to have to wash and comb out his feet, legs and tail when he comes in. He's not so thrilled about that but accepts it as the price of having his back yard. He really doesn't talk much any more and is a conservative barker - Gidget covers barking for both of them. They are getting closer and he is known to come up and nuzzle her and they often curl up together. Good sign.
