Hope's Haven - Geisha

Geisha Geisha Geisha Geisha
UPDATE (13 October 2005)

Just a quick note to tell you how Geisha is doing. She is doing great. She is a chow hound though. We have to watch her like a hawk so she doesn't eat everything. She still has her wonderful figure. We have been to several agility trials and she is getting used to people and dogs. In a couple of weeks she is going to start her classes. If she likes it then we are going to pursue it. She knows how to sit and down on command and she is a quick learner. She loves to prance and she holds her tail so high it is adorable. We just totally fell in love with her. Everyone is so fascinated when they see her at the shop. I even met and groomed a powder puff that was adopted out of Florida. I am not sure if she received it from Hopes Haven. I have just gotten her professional pictures done by a photographer I use on all my dogs. She didn't blink once. She was great. It was like she was a star. She is so beautiful! Thank You

UPDATE 2

Just a quick update on Geisha. I want you to know that Geisha is doing wonderfully. I am not sure if she has ever seen snow, but it is definitely colder than Florida up here in NY. This morning was 0 degrees. BRRRR. I have a system to keep her warm though. She wears a body suit, then a coat, a scarf and then I put her into a bag with a blanket. My new car has heated seats. I put the passenger side on for her and she curls up in it on the way to work. She goes to work with me and has her own bed 10 feet away from the heater. She is so spoiled - I can't help myself. I think it helps Geisha to come to work with me everyday also, because she is not scared of new people anymore. She comes up to my customers expecting a pat on the head. She used to be really shy. It is working out great.

This was our first Xmas together. She of course has her own stocking now. My husband bought a stocking with a Chinese Crested on it. She got treats and toys. When I brought them out for all the 'kids' they all had a ball. I was so surprised when Geisha played with a duck toy. She never played with a toy before. It was only for a minute but it was a huge thing. We loved it. She also received a tag for her 'Geisha' collar. It is a tag that says 'DIVA' which describes her perfectly!
PS. I think this was her first time that she met Santa too!

UPDATE 3 (9 March, 2006)

I know I am stuffing your email box with countless emails about Geisha. I just can't understand how anyone wouldn't want this wonderful girl. It totally boggles my mind that someone would just 'throw her away'. I just wanted to tell you that I take my dog Alex to do therapy work at the local hospital (assisted living). We have been a couple of times and I was a little nervous to bring Geisha because she is a little shy. I took her today to see how she would handle it. She was a perfect angel. She went up to the older people like she does that all the time and did all her tricks for them and they loved it. She would lick their hands and take a treat from them. I am so glad that she came out of her shell. She was great and I was impressed! I don't mean to brag about her all the time, but she is the greatest little dog! Thanks for choosing us!

UPDATE 3 (21 April, 2006)

I just want to catch you up on our little girl. She is doing just great. I can't say enough about this special dog. It is coming up to our one year anniversary in May.

She had a vet check not too long ago because she needed her rabies shot. The vet gave a clean bill of health. He said that her eye is doing just fine. She still holds it tight when I have to put the drops in it. Her skin seems to be clearing up. I want to make sure she doesn't get more blackheads. Her beauty routine is more than I do for my skin!

She has been doing pet therapy with me and Alex at the local Hospital. She has gone about three times now. We go to the 'assisted living' floor. She acts perfectly when she is there. She does all her tricks, jumps onto their beds, lays down and licks their hands. She lets them pet her also. She shows no fear when she is there. I am so proud of her.

She begins her agility class on Monday. I think she will like it. She has taken only one class before. I have the equipment in my shop and we practice it all the time. She wags her tail when she does it so I hope that is an indication. I will definitely send you a picture of her when she gets her first ribbon. She probably won't be ready this summer to enter her first competition, but maybe next year.

I have one more fascinating fact to tell you about Geisha. A few days ago, she decided toys are fun to play with. I got her to play with a toy for about ten minutes. She was whipping it around and then we played tug-of-war with it. I then gave it to my other dog and Joe and Geisha were tugging together. I couldn't believe it. This was wonderful. I can't wait to spoil her with lots of toys now too!

I can't wait until next year and she starts winning beautiful ribbons. She has only taken three classes and she is so fast and smart. She has caught on so quickly. I am so proud of her. I can't wait to show you the update next year with all her ribbons. I know that she will be a winner. My trainers said that she is a natural and they noticed how much she wags her tail through the entire thing. She seems like such a happy dog. Thanks a lot for listening to my raves about Geisha!
