Edgar has been adopted (February 2008)!UPDATE (18 February, 2008)
We made it safely home and Edgar was amazing. He did really well through the whole airline experience and he was great the entire weekend. We were really proud of him - he was in quite a few new situations and he handled them well.
He has learned to ride in an elevator, he's been in a few shops (California is so dog-friendly), he sat at an outside table with us while we ate at my cousin's restaurant in Hollywood (my cousin commented on how he hardly knew us and yet he was so good) and met celebrity dogs but clearly stole the show. He wasn't too keen on his carrier in the car at first, but he settled down fairly quickly and he never got carsick. He is very good natured and we can see his confidence growing. He is particular to me, but he's affectionate with Robert, too.
I've attached a photo of Ed and our dog: they're doing well with the transition. There have been a few growls and yips today, but tails have been wagging the whole time. Olivia is very submissive and Edgar has made clear he's a vertically challenged boss. He is a very quick learner and a bit of a clown. As you can see, he's too busy to sit still for a photo.
We located a store locally that has the Canidae food which we'll continue and we really appreciate your instructions on his medications and care. We'll keep you posted on our progress, but so far things are going well. Thanks again for all your help.
UPDATE (21 April, 2008)
Edgar is doing great. We love him; he is getting more comfortable here and like the rest of us, is enjoying the warmer weather. He cracks us up with his antics and he and our other dog are getting along really well now. It's a riot to watch 13lb Ed play with a 70lb bull terrier - he pulls her jowls, jumps on her - he's a brute! We started a basic obedience class last week and Ed is doing well with it.
UPDATE (16 September, 2008)
It took Edgar a while to warm up to Chelsea this summer, which is odd because she's a huge animal person, but eventually he came around - so that every day he snuggled in her lap for a nice, long nap. I am continually amazed at how well he's doing in so many situations, especially given his early years. We take our dogs just about everywhere and Ed has admirers all over the place! He's even warmed over my mother who is the least likely dog person on the planet.
