Cecil has now been adopted! (19, February 2006)UPDATE
Cecil got a bath and a shave then went to his new home yesterday. He did not run and hide just went over to Edie's toys and sat in the middle of them while she barked and tried to get him to play. His forever mom has a quaint little place in the hills above L.A. with a small yard just right for these two.
UPDATE (27 February, 2006)
Cecil is doing really well. He didn't want to sleep in the bed with us the first night but he did the second night and every night since. He snores even more than Bernard but that's okay. He and Edie are getting along well. She, of course, 'allows' him to eat, play, receive attention, etc. She's quite the female! No problems or fights, which is so great! They run around the living room and toss toys, bark, everything. It's so cool!
Cecil is still a little skittish around Bernard and even me, now and then. He's done really well with his baths. That was shocking to me! We tried a walk in the park but he wasn't quite ready. We'll try again this weekend. He does really well in the car and he seems to really like our cat, Gus. I am so in love with him! He has drowned me with stinky dog kisses every morning and seems really happy. Thank you so much!
UPDATE (21 March, 2006)
I'm happy to report that Mr Dogboy is doing great! He's taken to walking in the park and going to breakfast at the cafe. He's still a little spooky, a little shy, but he does have moments of total goofiness! He and Edie play all of the time and he really seems to be coming out of his shell more and more. We changed his name to Harry Dean. He started reminding us of the actor, Harry Dean Stanton. I wanted you to know that everything is going really well. I, of course, haven't gotten my pictures developed yet. When I do, I'll send you a couple of him. Thanks again!
UPDATE (February 28, 2008)
Just wanted to give you the two year update on our little guy. He's doing great! He absolutely knows that he's a dog, now! I think he was very unsure for awhile. He's calm and happy. He plays with toys, constantly. He has a new brother named Jack. He's a Frenchie/Chihuahua mix. They run and play until they can't anymore! Harry Dean has a closet of clothing, including a new pair of jeans and a very mod parka. I've let the hair on his face grow out so he's the dog-faced boy, now. When he first came to live with me, he had nightmares every single night. They started to taper off after the first six months but he would still have one now and then. I'm happy to report that just the other night, I was watching a movie in bed and I saw Harry's tail wagging. I looked down at him and he was completely asleep! He was having a happy dream! This was the first time I'd ever seen that. I was so happy for him! He's really turned out to be such a loving, trusting guy. It's just incredible what a little love and a lot of kibble can do for these little guys! If I could marry him, I would! He's the love of my life!
