Hope's Haven - Burt

Burt Burt Burt Burt

Burt has been adopted (29 March, 2008)!

UPDATE (16 September, 2008)

Things are going well with my new mom and dad, though I’m not sure about the whole ’Dad’ thing. He’s ok. I let him sit next to me on my couch and sometimes I’ll share my pillow with him, but he has selfish tendencies! Some nights he puts his head in the middle of my pillow! I can tell he is going to be much harder to train than mom. I have two new sisters and two new brothers. They appear very slow minded. There is hope for the one they call Fritz. He does not appear to be afflicted with the same disease the others have - their entire bodies are covered with fur. I pray I do not fall victim to the same fate!

I have been trying to teach them about their environment. I assume they must be new, too because they seem to be dumbfounded by these puny walls Mom refers to as gates. I have been showing them a very simple bounce technique which makes it easier to acquire the cat food. (They too, are inflicted with the body fur disease - freaky!) I don’t know what is taking them so long. I impressed mom yesterday when I showed her the bounce technique. She was obviously quite impressed, because she stood there with her mouth agape. She was so impressed she brought out another gate about three feet high and again, I showed everyone the ease and grace of the bounce technique, being careful to not touch the gate as one flies over. My new mom is a bit slow with her English. She told me, “No, Burt! No!” when she obviously meant to cheer me on with,“Go, Burt! Go!" Then she failed to give me a carrot for my success! She will take some work!

I am looking forward to the new gate my dad built for me today. I will continue to try to teach my new family but they will take time!
