Hope's Haven - Apollo

Apollo Apollo Apollo Apollo
UPDATE

Well, it's been a whole year and I can't put into words how loved Apollo is in this house. He is CRAZY! He has such a wide ranged personality and he is very sweet and loving when he wants to be. Curling up by the fire or TV are such a pleasure to him.'Fire' and 'TV' are engraved in his vocabulary and he will actually stand by the fireplace and bark if he thinks there should be a fire on.

He bites his sister's neck unmercilessly to get her to play with him. When she's has enough, she pins him to the ground, he submits and then he comes back for more. He loves to play chase (he gets chased after) and tug-o-war, with people or other dogs. The best is when he plays with his AFLAC duck. He thinks it's taunting him.

He can be VERY demanding. If he sees a bunny in the yard, he will bark FEROCIOUSLY to be let out. Apollo has also become very adept at catching sparrows. Unfortunately, they usually don't live through the game he thinks he's playing with them. Don't get him wrong - he doesn't kill for sport, he really does just want to play. He's actually not pleased when they can longer play. He plays rough ALL the time. He's got a pitbull girlfriend that manhandles him and he just can't get enough of her.

His loyalty is amazing...he actually chokes me up because he would defend his loved ones with his life. The funny thing is that as much as he annoys his sister, NO stranger can go near her without him going berserk. For example, the vet's office episode...six dogs and their owners' had to clear the office because someone tried to pet his sister - after they petted him without a fuss! In a nutshell, he made my seventy-year-old aunt and our mail-carrier cry and several people will no longer visit this house. WE DON'T CARE! Apollo is part of our family FOREVER and hard luck to anyone who can't handle that.

He is now 36lbs of pure muscle and has lost his feeble, skinny look. His bark is much deeper and more convincing. I don't think we need a burglar alarm in this house! Anyway, the point is that Apollo is a great dog and companion for all involved. We're so thankful with everything you guys did to rescue him and bring him to good health. Thanks again for affording us the privilege of having Apollo in our family. We love him and think he's pretty happy here.
